What is Sorare and how does Sorare work?

Sorare combines the collecting aspect of Panini, the team-building aspect of Ultimate Team, and elements of a classic fantasy football manager like Kickbase.

Sorare is based on the real-life performances of football players. Their actions on the pitch are evaluated through a detailed scoring system, with the points earned then being added to your digital collectible cards.

With these cards, you compete against other managers in various competitions and can win cash and card rewards, as well as once-in-a-lifetime rewards.

Sorare Explained as a Fantasy Football Manager

In Sorare, you build a team of five players for each competition. Each position is fixed:

• Goalkeeper

• Defender

• Midfielder

• Forward

• Extra: DEF/MID/FWD

With this team, you participate in weekly competitions based on real-life matchdays. Each weekend is a fresh competition – there are no long-term simulations or automatic results.

How are Sorare Points generated from real player performances?

Points are based on real match data such as:

• Goals & assists

• Passing accuracy

• Duels won

• Clean sheets

• Defensive actions

The better a player performs in the real game, the more points your card earns.

Depending on the competition and your finishing position, you can earn different rewards in Sorare. These include cash rewards, new digital player cards, signed jerseys, VIP tickets, as well as exclusive stadium and special football experiences. The specific rewards depend on the game mode and the points you achieve.

What Cards Are Available in Sorare?

The rarity of Sorare cards determines your budget and your potential rewards. In F2P (Arcade Mode), you can get started from €0, while Limited cards are suitable for a small to medium budget. With a larger budget, you can opt for Rare or even rarer cards such as Super Rare and Unique. Each rarity offers different rewards and opportunities within the game.

InSeason cards vs. Classic cards

Sorare has two main card types: InSeason and Classic. InSeason cards come from the current season and allow you to participate in all InSeason competitions, including Hotstreaks with attractive cash and card rewards. They also receive a 5% InSeason bonus, which increases their score during the season.

At the end of the season, InSeason cards automatically become Classic cards. They remain in your collection permanently and can still be used in Classic competitions, but without the InSeason bonus. Classic cards are therefore ideal for building teams over the long term and continuing to use players without their score being affected by the transition from the beginning to the end of the season.

The biggest difference is that InSeason cards are needed to compete for the top rewards in Hotstreak and Leaderboard competitions during the current season, while Classic cards are more suitable for long-term team planning and strategic lineups. This also means you can start during the second half of the season, specifically buy InSeason cards from players who have already proven their performance, or use Classic cards to reduce costs and remain flexible in the long term. Each InSeason team can include one Classic card.

How Do You Build a Team in Sorare 27?

Every team for the InSeason Leaderboard and Hotstreak modes consists of at least 4 InSeason cards and can include 1 Classic card. The required structure of Goalkeeper, Defender, Midfielder, Forward and Field Player must always be followed.

What are Sorare Early Access Cards?

At the beginning of a new season, new cards may initially appear as Early Access cards.

These cards may look different from the final versions, as the final player image may not yet be available.

After the respective Media Days, the cards are updated. However, the cards have their full utility from Matchday 1 – the updated player images only improve the visual appearance of the cards.

Which Leagues Are Available in Sorare?

Sorare offers you the opportunity to follow football from all over the world.

This includes, among others:

• Bundesliga

• 2. Bundesliga

• La Liga

• English Premier League and Championship

• Eredivisie

• Belgian league

• Portuguese league

• Scottish league

• MLS

• J League

• K League

• other international competitions

You can generally play multiple leagues in parallel.

For beginners, I would still recommend starting with one league.

The best choice is usually a league you already follow regularly. If you are a Bundesliga fan, for example, you will already have a much better understanding of the players, clubs and likely lineups. The same naturally applies to the 2. Bundesliga.

You try to reach specific score thresholds and work your way up level by level. Teams can be submitted around the clock, and rewards can be claimed immediately.

What Competitions Are Available in Sorare?

Once you have selected your league and card rarity, you need to choose a competition. For Sorare 27, there are two main game modes to consider:

How to Get the Maximum Score Bonus:

What happens if 2 managers in the Leaderboard have submitted the exact same team?

This is where the % bonus comes into play. Each manager can improve this individually, providing a direct score bonus on the points a player earns.

Example Pedri 0% scores 100 points = 100 points

Example Pedri 10% scores 100 points = 110 points

The Leaderboard has 2 additional bonuses:

Multiclub Bonus

In the Leaderboard, additional bonuses can be earned by spreading your team across multiple clubs and avoiding using too many players from the same club.

Cap-260 Bonus

Another Leaderboard bonus takes your players' previous performances into account.
Teams with a correspondingly low average L10 score can receive an additional bonus.

InSeason Bonus

Current InSeason cards receive an additional bonus. This bonus expires at the end of the season when the cards become Classic cards.

XP Bonus

Players can earn XP. This XP can be used to level up the corresponding card through different levels. The higher the level, the more XP is required.

The progression is therefore designed for the long term and cannot simply be maximized within a few minutes.

Collection Bonus

If you collect multiple cards from a club from a specific season, your Collection can provide an additional bonus.

This gives collecting an additional gameplay benefit beyond the personal value of building a collection.

How Does Sorare Hotstreak Work?

Hotstreak works differently from the Leaderboard. Here, you do not compete directly against other managers.

Instead, you have to reach specific score thresholds. You start at a certain level and have multiple attempts to reach the required score.

If you reach the score threshold, you receive the corresponding reward and can then play the next level. If you fail to reach the required score within your attempts, the run starts again from the beginning.

This makes Hotstreak particularly interesting for managers who actively follow football and want to use their teams as flexibly as possible around the real-life lineups.

WeBy collecting specific cards, you can unlock additional rewards. However, you need to pay close attention to which cards count towards each mission. For certain Collection Missions, it matters whether you acquired a card as the First Owner directly from Sorare. This can be done through the Primary Market (auctions or instant purchases) or by receiving cards through Crafting or as card rewards.

A card purchased on the Secondary Market is therefore be treated differently for certain Collection requirements and does not count towards Collection Missions in Sorare 27.

With Sorare 27, Collection Missions have also been introduced.

If you are planning to build a Collection, you should therefore check the requirements of the respective mission before making a purchase.

Rewards include XP, Essences, Crafting Items and additional InSeason cards (up to the starting level).

Building Collections in Sorare 27 can definitely be worthwhile. The % bonus on all cards and the Collection Missions provide additional rewards.

Once you have selected your league, card rarity and competition, you can start building your team.

There are several different ways to buy cards.

How Do I Buy My First Sorare Cards?

Primary Market

This is where you buy cards directly from Sorare.

This includes:

• Auctions

• Instant purchases

• Other Primary Market offers (Flash Sales, promos, ...)

Secondary Market

This is where you buy cards from other Sorare managers. The most important tip for beginners:

Tip: Compare the prices. Especially instant purchases can sometimes be significantly higher than what a card is actually worth on the market. (See the Adeyemi price above.)

If you don't need a specific card immediately, it can be worth monitoring auctions and other offers.

Flash Promos and Offers

Sorare regularly offers different promotions and special offers. These can look attractive, but they should not automatically be a reason to buy.

Based on my personal experience, these offers rarely pay off.

You don't need hundreds of cards from the start.

Choose a league that you enjoy following, select a rarity and competition that fit your budget, and focus on learning the basics first. Over time, you will naturally develop a better understanding of which players are interesting, how the market works and which strategies work for you.

That is also the part of Sorare that I personally still enjoy after several years. What started as a fantasy football game has also become a large collection of players and clubs from around the world for me.
